Summary

It's Christmastime and the Wild Kratts are taking a break to celebrate — until an alert warns that baby animals are vanishing from around the globe. The holiday party turns into a worldwide rescue mission as the team races their greedy rivals to return each young creature to the exact habitat it depends on before the holidays. A fun, low-stakes way to see how many different animals each need their own particular home.

Discussion questions

Discussion

Every baby animal in this special belongs somewhere specific — the rescue only works if each one goes back to the right home.

  1. Pick one animal the Kratts rescued. What habitat does it need, and what would happen if it were left somewhere else?
  2. Why can't all the animals just live in the same place? What does each habitat provide that others don't?
  3. The villains wanted to keep the baby animals for themselves. Why is a wild animal better off living free in its own habitat than kept as a prize?

Quick work-a-long

Vocabulary: habitat, adaptation, native, migrate, survive.

Try it: Choose two animals from the special that live in very different habitats (say, a polar region and a rainforest). For each, list one thing that habitat gives the animal that it could not get in the other.
