Summary
Take a trip down a river, from its headwaters, or beginning, all the way to its mouth, or end. Rivers are part of the water cycle, the continuous movement of water around the planet. Most of the water that rivers carry comes from the area of land surrounding it, called a watershed. Along the way, rivers shape land through weathering and erosion, creating landforms like canyons. Rivers provide habitat for countless species, and they have a big impact on people, too.
