Summary
Reptiles—scary or just scaly? It depends! There are thousands of different reptiles living in almost every corner of the world. Many look nothing alike on the outside, but all reptiles are blood brothers—<i>cold-</i>blooded brothers, that is! They also all have backbones and lungs, and most shed their skin in order to grow. Reptiles fall into four general categories: lizards, snakes, turtles and tortoises, and crocodilians. Most enter the world from leathery eggs, fully formed and ready to fend for themselves. Reptiles have some very cool ancient relatives—dinosaurs!—and some surprising modern ones—us! Real-life reptiles might make your skin crawl, but encountering our scaly ancestors on-screen is a fun way to discover fascinating facts about them.
