How do things move, anyway? A few centuries ago, a scientist named Isaac Newton came up with three laws that explain motion throughout the universe. His goal was to demystify how planets move around the Sun—and he ended up explaining the motion of everything from rockets to roller skates. It all starts with forces, pushes or pulls that can make an object move or change its motion.
