Summary

A guided session that teaches a special slow-breathing technique for settling "the Hubbub" -- Mind Yeti's word for the busy, buzzy feeling of too many thoughts and feelings at once. Kids practice a longer, slower out-breath and feel their body quiet down. A go-to reset when the room (or a kid) is wound up.

Discussion questions

Settling the Hubbub

  1. What is "the Hubbub" -- what does it feel like when your thoughts and feelings get busy?
  2. How is slow breathing different from your normal breathing?
  3. What's something that gives you the Hubbub, and could slow breathing help?

Quick work-a-long

Long slow out: Words to know -- *settle, slow, breath.* Breathe in for a count of three, then breathe out even slower, for a count of five. The long out-breath is what tells your body to settle.
