Summary
In the 1930s and '40s, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party rose to power in Germany by stoking antisemitism. The country went from a center of enlightened thought and culture to perpetrating the murder of six million Jews and five million others—anyone the regime considered "undesireable." How does a society dehumanize people so they can be persecuted and then murdered? The Nazis used propaganda, fear, and targeted persecution to pave the path to genocide during the Holocaust.
