How did it all begin? According to the latest science, the universe started off with a bang—the Big Bang! This famous theory looks about 14 billion years into the past, to the moment the universe burst into existence. It explains that all matter, energy, and even time were once packed into a mind-bendingly small object—until it exploded. That explosion is known as the Big Bang, and it sent all of the ingredients of the universe flying in all directions. Even now, the universe is constantly expanding because of this cosmic blast.
