Who's in the Lift?

9 episodes

Who's in the Lift? is a warm behind-the-scenes web series from the Sydney Opera House, made for curious kids. In every short episode three children step through the giant doors of the Opera House scenery lift and meet one of the people who make live performance happen: an opera singer, a piano tuner, ballet dancers, a stage manager, a lighting designer, a percussionist, a conductor, an actor, and a multi-talented performing artist. The kids ask the questions, try the tools, and get a real, hands-on look at how a show comes together on stage and backstage. It is a friendly first introduction to the arts, the instruments and voices that fill a concert hall, and the technical crew whose lights, cue calls, and timing keep a performance running. Each visit is a few minutes long, calm, and easy to point a class at.
