Our Planet
12 episodes
The Netflix natural-history series narrated by David Attenborough, made by Silverback Films with WWF over four years of filming in fifty countries. Twelve fifty-minute episodes here span both seasons. The first works habitat by habitat: frozen worlds, jungles, forests, coastal seas, fresh water, deserts and grasslands, the high seas. The second follows animals on the move, from wildebeest herds to the journeys parents make to raise young. What sets it apart from older wildlife filmmaking is that overfishing, melting sea ice, and blocked migration routes sit inside the stories rather than in a closing note.

- 5-LS2-1Develop a model to describe the movement of matter among plants, animals, decomposers, and the environment.
- 3-LS2-1Construct an argument that some animals form groups that help members survive.
- MS-LS2-1Analyze and interpret data to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem.
- MS-LS2-4Construct an argument supported by empirical evidence that changes to physical or biological components of an ecosystem affect populations.
- 3-LS4-4Make a claim about the merit of a solution to a problem caused when the environment changes and the types of plants and animals that live there may change.
