Martha Speaks
18 episodes
Short PBS KIDS clips from the animated series about a dog who ate a bowl of alphabet soup and started talking instead of digesting it. Most run one to three minutes: Martha explains how she got her voice, Helen reads a favorite bedtime story aloud, a bath turns a soggy Martha into what everyone mistakes for a wild dog, and a cat claims her chair. Several of the stories turn on a misunderstanding that clears up once somebody looks closer, which is handy for first-impressions talk. At this length they slot in as a vocabulary warm-up, a read-aloud model, or an opener before writing.
